Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
It all depends on who might be available as a replacement. I do wonder if our owners at this point in time are actively scouring the market for a manager or if they actually are prepared to consider giving a contract extension to Allardyce.

In an ideal scenario I'd want a younger manager, maybe even a foreigner, with a positive approach, tactical nous and who is good at working and developing young players too.

I meant more lucky over the Nolan injury. However, we are fortunate that they have settled in so well and so quickly and got off to a flying start.

We'll have a real decision to make at the end of the season.

If we're still playing attractive football, Sam will probably be offered at least an extra season.

Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
Our main gripe with BFS is the style of play and entertainment value.

If the marked improvement continues over the rest of the season then I have no problem with him being offered another two years and I have no doubt the Davids will see it the same way.... in fact even if we revert back to a slightly less attractive game but still finish comfortably in the top half BFS will be here next season.

I've climbed down a bit from my 'fuck off out of my club you cunt' stance but it's far too early to say he's changed tactics and 'gets' what West Ham are all about.

You don't write off two years of abject football misery in seven games but it's remarkable that I'd now give him until Christmas.

Well, early days, but if this improvement in the entertainment stays, and providing we have a decent season, which it looks like it could be...... then happily keep him.

Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
My concern would still be that we saw his Plan A against Spurs and Southampton, it involved Kevin NOLAN and Carlton COLE, and it was fucking shit, like last season.

A couple of injuries here and there forced us to try something else, and its been a success.

Also smalls bothered by Sakho's comments at the weekend.
But, good luck to him I suppose.

Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
Unfairly maybe, but I feel the team is doing well now despite Allardyce, not because of him.
The Nolan/Carroll injuries forced him to make a change, so he got lucky in that respect.

Apparently the players enjoy playing for him, so he must do something right, but looking in from outside I fail to see what he brings to the team, what sets him apart from other managers.

Other managers surely could do well with our squad too, and don't forget that Allardyce apparently is on pretty high wages.
So I tend towards letting him go at the end of the season.

Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
Gold and Sullivan will give a new contract at the end of the season, I'm convinced.

Everything's going to plan with the exception of last seasons poor showing. Big mistake letting Cole leave and relying on Maigi to lead the line. That left us sailing too close to the relegation zone, but the team pulled through.

More investment this season in quality players has seen an improvement in the quality of the football and the results (so far)

Players will leave and be replaced by better in January and at the end of the season, all building up to our move to the OS!

Gold and Sullivan have been the saving of the club and are doing a brilliant job.

There are an awful lot of corners people have painted so there will nedd to be a lot more positivity before paths out can be found yet.

I think Nobby nailed it with "Another manager could easily come in and do just as well if not better with this side and maybe even bring on the youth a little more too! "

IF he drops his obsession with NOlan
IF he continues to play 2 up front
IF he continues to attack i could come round to him.

Any ol Tom Dick or Harry, don't matter who we have it'd a piece of piss, not sure why we haven't won anything lately to be sure.

Re: The Allardyce dilemma...
Its bloody early days for anyone to start changing opinion. After the Southampton & Sheffield Utd debacles we were at his throat, then 3 games later and we are discussing a new 2 year deal. You can guarantee if we lost at Burnley and against Man City people will be calling for his head again.

Our squad is easily good enough for a top 12 finish. If we manage to finish top 8 then I think he would have earned another 2 years, any worse than that and we go our seperate ways. Either way its impossible to make any kind of judgement before February time.
